In recognition of Open Education Week 2019, IFLA (International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions) released a brief on open educational resources (OER). Open Education embodies the concepts of teaching, learning and research materials made available for free, and with no or only limited restrictions, to support access to knowledge.
UH has been tracking and supporting zero-cost textbooks. As advocates of access to knowledge, libraries make natural supporters of OER. Virginia stands out in this arena and is a possible beacon for state legislation on OER. In 2011 CALI noted Law Schools lag behind in OER. Sadly, not much has changed.
